Philadelphia-based composer, trumpeter, and producer, Christopher Michael Stevens, has assembled an all-star producer remix compilation for his last solo album, entitled, From Then Til Now: The Remixes, Vol. 1.
Featuring James Poyser (The Roots), ManMan (John Legend / Snoop Dogg / Becky G), RVLVR (NOREMIXES) and more, the package of remixes flip all styles from hiphop to jazz to rock and electronic beats.
Starkey's take on "Because It's Monday (featuring Shaylah J. Stevens)" sonically strips the original track down to its smallest elements, vocals and trumpet, then injects percussive synth pulses. Musically, Starkey is in 2023's Human Extinction EP territory: letting synthesizer attacks create the rhythmic drive of the production.
