A new Starkey audio installation ...for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic went up in the Community College of Philadelphia's Mint Building Rotunda (Spring Garden Street, between 16th & 17th Sts.) today, and will play throughout November. The work, in four continuous parts, was inspired by the composer's "looking for info about mental institutions in and around Philadelphia."
The prominent attention that mental health has had in our current society prompted this search, which "very quickly ...turned down a very dark path of controversy, mistreatment and investigations."
If you're in the Philadelphia area and would like to hear the work, stop in any time during normal school hours. The work is part of the 2019 Faculty Art Show.
