Starkey kicks of 2022 with a single for Spring Garden Records. Tears Dry is a collaboration with fellow Philadelphia/Los Angeles-based artist, Aprilfoolchild. On the 4×4 tune (reminiscent of album closers Distant Star and Spacewalk from Orbits and Ephemeral Exhibits), Aprilfoolchild’s vocals shine with a catchy melody and thought-provoking lyrics. Starkey’s NOREMIXES label released the stripped back acapella production of the debut Yung Jupit3r single, “The Skies are Open”. Removing all of the instrumentation, except for the vocals, revealed a beautiful version of the track: an acapella which showcases the breadth of vocal content recorded by Idely Rey for the song. Following up the “Nonstellar Origins” EP released on Night Bass just a couple weeks ago, Starkey returns to Saturate Records to release the single Seaweed. Japan’s Maru, who has recently remixed Korostyle for Starkey’s Slit Jockey Records, has released a new remix EP on the Kerv label.
